Seeking Youth Teachers!

Are you a youth of NL with a creative skill, talent or practice? Interested in teaching other youth in NL? Girls Rock NL is looking for youth to lead 15 minute, pre-recorded, virtual rock camp sessions! This paid opportunity to share your creative skills and knowledge with your peers across the province will also be a part of the grnl work book! Each youth selected to teach a session will receive a $500 honorarium. Rock camp staff are available to help develop and record your programming.

About youth teaching roles

Girls Rock Newfoundland & Labrador is hosting a series of pre-recorded virtual lessons taught by youth for youth. GRNL is seeking expressions of interest from girls, transgender, two spirit and non-binary youth ages 8-18 years old in Newfoundland and Labrador to teach a 15 minute session/lesson on a subject of their choosing! You might teach about drums, art, podcasting, friendship, identity, activism, songwriting, how to start a band, how to tie dye a t-shirt... the list is endless! We are looking for youth teachers of all experience levels.

If you are a youth who is interested in teaching a virtual session at rock camp, you can fill out our form below. If you’ve got questions or would prefer to share your interest over zoom or the phone, you can email girlsrocknl@gmail.com to arrange a time to meet! Proposals due February 19th 2022. Applications will be reviewed and selected by our organizers. Applicants will be notified by February 26th, 2022. Your virtual lesson will be completed by March 12th 2022.

Proposal Support

If you are new to sharing in this way, we can provide supports including: working with a GRNL organizer to develop your proposal, to help prepare your lesson, to co-facilitate your lesson with you and/or to help you record your session!
